Housing Rent Deferment
The following information is solely for UNDERGRADUATE residents.
Definition
Housing Rent Deferment — A temporary postponement of the rent due date while waiting for the student's financial aid money (grants, scholarships, loans, etc) to be released from UF Student Financial Affairs (Financial Aid Office). It is not a guarantee that student's financial aid will pay ALL of their rent. Just because a student is granted a housing rent deferment does NOT mean that they will never have to pay their rent or any portion of their rent balance!

Additional Information
- Student is responsible for payment of their housing balance if financial aid money is not released in time to pay by the Housing Rent Deferment due date OR if there is not enough money to cover all of the student’s University debts.
- Student is responsible for checking the due date on their housing rent statement each semester and, if applicable, apply for a Housing Rent Deferment prior to the rent due date to avoid a $50.00 late charge for Summer B term and a $100 late charge beginning Fall/Spring 2011-2012.
- Housing Rent Deferments and tuition deferments are totally separate. Housing and tuition deferment dates and criteria are not the same.
Housing Rent Deferments can only be granted by housing staff. UF Student Financial Affairs (Financial Aid Office) and University Financial Services (Cashier’s Office) staff may not grant housing rent deferments.
