Housing Rent Deferment

The following information is solely for UNDERGRADUATE residents.

Definition

Housing Rent Deferment — A temporary postponement of the rent due date while waiting for the student's financial aid money (grants, scholarships, loans, etc) to be released from UF Student Financial Affairs (Financial Aid Office). It is not a guarantee that student's financial aid will pay ALL of their rent. Just because a student is granted a housing rent deferment does NOT mean that they will never have to pay their rent or any portion of their rent balance!

Eligibility

All
Semesters

Housing staff must be able to verify the amount of financial aid being received by checking the student's Financial Aid Award File online or have a copy of the student's scholarships.

Summer B Semester

Student must have minimum of $1,400 in verifiable financial aid, excluding work-study and fee waivers.

  • Florida Prepaid Program – Housing (Dormitory) Plan is NOT available for Summer Semesters.

Fall &
Spring Semesters

Student must have minimum of $4,500 in verifiable financial aid, excluding work-study and fee waivers.

How To Check Your Eligibility

Work-study and tuition waivers do not count toward housing rent deferments.
