What is online room selection?
UF students now have the option to select their own rooms on the MyHousing Portal after they complete a valid Housing Contract and submit their $200 pre-rent payment. Room selection is based on the student housing application date (see application confirmation e-mail).
When do I select a room online?
Room selection is based on the student housing application date (this is the date you submitted your UF housing application and $25 non-refundable housing application fee. See application confirmation e-mail).
Fall/Spring: Room selection starts in May 2012
Summer B: Students are manually assigned based on your preferences* starting in March 2012.
*Preferences are not guaranteed and are based on availability.

What if I search and find there are no rooms available?
You are guaranteed a space provided by UF Housing if you have a valid UF Housing contract and have submitted your $200 rental deposit. Our office will notify you if availability becomes limited and we begin to manually assign students to rooms.

What if I do not participate in the Online Room Signup process?
Our office will notify you if availability becomes limited and we begin to manually assign students to rooms. Students with a completed housing contract and pre-rent payment are GUARANTEED a space provided for the contract period by UF Housing.
Update your preference selections on the Housing Portal by selecting the CONTRACT link on the left side of the page. *Please note that preferred roommate selections are not guaranteed or likely if you wait to be manually assigned.*
Can I change my mind after I select my room?
You can change rooms as many times as you like until room sign-up for your contract period is closed or you are billed for housing (whichever comes first). How does roommate selection work?
Summer B students may indicate roommate preferences on the Housing Portal CONTRACT link. *Preferred roommate selections are not guaranteed and are based on availability*
Fall/Spring students can only select other Fall/Spring students. Innovation Academy students can only select other Innovation Academy students.
Students may hold a vacant space for a roommate during their room selection date (the date you submitted your UF housing application and $25 non-refundable housing application).
- Search for a room on-campus with more than one vacancy.
- Selected that space.
- Place a hold on any vacant spaces available in your selected room for your prospective roommates with their UFID number. Holds can only be placed for students with the same Housing Contract period.
- An email will be sent to the other student(s) notifying them that a space is being held for them and that they have 24 hours to either accept or decline the space.
- That student must sign on to the Housing Portal within 24 hours of the hold being placed (regardless of their Signup Date and Time), select the ROOM SIGNUP link and either Accept or Decline the held space. The hold will be removed from the vacant space if the student does not Accept/Decline the space within 24 hours, and will be available to other students in the room selection process.

What if I want to live in a learning community?
Summer B students should consider the AIM program in Beaty East, East Hall Engineering Community, GatorWell at Springs, and Faculty in Residence community in Lakeside.
Fall/Spring students should review the programs here.
Innovation Academy students live in the exclusive Innovation Academy learning community in Beaty East.
