Moving out

The residence halls close Saturday, December 17 at noon.

If you are coming back to live in the same room for Spring 2023, take your keys with you over Winter Break. Be sure to follow all Fall Closing instructions emailed to you before leaving for Winter Break.

If you are moving to a new room for Spring 2023 or not returning to live on campus for Spring 2023, follow the steps below before leaving for Winter Break:

  • Attend a floor meeting with your Resident Assistant for building-specific move-out instructions.
  • Schedule a move out appointment with your Resident Assistant
  • Consider keeping your move-out team to a minimum.
  • Upon guest arrival, head directly to your room to pack all items. Any property left in your room will be disposed of.
  • Place all trash in exterior dumpsters–trash should not be left in your room or on your floor. If dumpsters are full, place items neatly beside the exterior of the dumpster. Make sure your room is clean, lights are off, blinds are open and your windows and closed and latched. Collect any packages or mail from your mailbox before turning in your keys.
  • Once ready to leave, visit your area office to return your keys.
  • Log into and update your mailing address.
Please note: If you are moving to a new room for Spring 2023, you will not be permitted to store your belongings in your new room early. You will need to store your belongings off campus upon leaving for Winter Break and move into your new room once you return to campus after Winter Break.

After Hours Move Out

If you are leaving after hours, please follow the steps above. When you are ready to leave visit your Area Office and complete an express check-out envelope. Complete the information on the envelope, insert all of your keys, and place it into the dropbox. You will receive a confirmation email that your move-out has been processed the following business day. For any assistance with your after hour move-out please contact the Resident Assistant on call.
