Moving out

Residence halls close for the spring semester on Saturday, May 4 at 12 p.m.

Move-Out Preparation

As you prepare to move out of your space, please be sure to complete the following before returning your keys.


  • Remove all personal belongings from your room. All remaining items will be discarded.  
  • Empty trash and recycling containers in the designated disposal areas outside of the building and place in the emptied bins back in your room.  
  • If you have any furniture from the lounge or common spaces, please return it to its rightful place. 
  • Turn lights off, ensure windows are closed, blinds are open and their air conditioning is on.
  • Check your mailbox and package locker for any remaining items.  
  • Collect your bicycle or scooter that may be stored outside.

Donations

As you prepare for your move, donation boxes have been placed in your area office to collect new or gently used clothes, small appliances, linens, school supplies, and non-perishable food. All donated items will support the following local community organizations:

  • UF Field and Fork Pantry
  • Goodwill
  • Grace Marketplace
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Haven Hospice
  • Salvation Army

Checkout

Before you turn in your keys, schedule a checkout appointment with your Resident Assistant at least 24 hours prior to your desired checkout time. Once you have moved out all of your belongings and cleaned your space, you will return your keys and fob using the express checkout envelope located at your area office. If the area office is closed when you move out, place your signed express checkout envelope in the white key box at the area office.   

Carts

Carts will be available for you to use during this time. To check-out a cart please visit the area office and provide a valid photo ID to hold onto while you are using the cart. 

Loading Zones

Loading zones in the area are limited. Please use these spaces to load your vehicle and promptly move it to allow others to use the space. Be mindful of Transportation and Parking Services parking restrictions. Placing your vehicle in a restricted space may result in a citation.

Trash

All trash should be disposed of directly in the dumpsters. Do not place fridges inside the dumpsters. Any unwanted fridges should be placed adjacent to the large dumpster.  

Graduate and Family Housing

Once a student decides to move out of Graduate and Family Housing a Notice of Intent to Vacate must be submitted 60 days prior to the intended move out date. To successfully move out without incurring any charges, please complete the following.

  • Remove all trash and dispose of properly.
  • Sweep and mop all un-carpeted floors.
  • Vacuum all carpets.
  • Clean all exterior and interior surfaces of the kitchen appliances, including the refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, vent hood.
  • Wipe down baseboards.
  • Clean all bathrooms.
  • Remove all belongings from the apartment, patio/balcony, storage room and bike racks.
  • Remove any shelf paper and clean the cabinets, drawers and shelves.
  • Clean all mirrors, ceiling fans and light fixtures.
  • Clean all windows.
  • Call to disconnect your gas (Corry 279, 280, and 285 only).
  • Return all movies, equipment that you might have borrowed from the office.
  • Return all apartment, mailbox, laundry keys to your Village office.
  • Turn off all lights but leave breakers on.
