Student Learning & Engagement

The Graduate Assistant for Student Learning Engagement is an architect behind the student experience for those living in our residence halls. This position is motivated by a passion for developing others, enjoys data driven decision-making, and brings innovative ideas to engage and develop our community. This Graduate Assistant position flourishes in a collaborative environment, communicates effectively with a multitude of stakeholders, and brings an intellectual curiosity that unlocks not just the potential of the student experience, but their own potential as well.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the university sponsored student organizations Inter-Residence Hall Association (IRHA) and corresponding student leaders, supporting member engagement, programming efforts, continuing education, and providing assistance with specific initiatives  
  • Assist with coordination of Area Governments or Councils facilitated by IRHA 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to student leaders with an emphasis on advancing the organization and fostering the development of transferable skills 
  • Coordinate with the regional and national governing body for the Inter-Residence Hall Association 
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and engagement to inform future decisions 
  • Assist with management and tracking of the allocated budget for Student Learning and Engagement  
  • Foster a culture of continuous care by serving in an on-call role and supporting our students through effective emergency management procedures 
  • Create a residential environment that cultivates a sense of community and belonging while encouraging residents to utilize departmental and campus resources 

                Qualifications

                  Minimum Qualifications

                  • Enrolled as a full-time University of Florida graduate student in good standing as defined by the University or specific college at the time of employment  
                  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher  

                          Preferred Qualifications

                          • Seeking a graduate degree in Student Personnel and Higher Education 
                          • Experience working with student leaders, student organizations, or familiarity with Housing & Residence Life 
                          • Demonstrated ability to adapt and innovate  
                          • Demonstrated dependability, organization, and professionalism 
                          • Ability to work well within a team, with individuals, and build positive relationships 
                          • This position may require occasional nights and weekend hours 

                              Additional Information & Benefits

                              • Must be available for 20 hours per week 
                              • A stipend will be provided for a nine-month appointment (Fall and Spring semesters) 
                              • Tuition waiver for 9 credits in the Fall and Spring semesters (fees not included) 
                              • Eligible to enroll in GatorGrad Care health insurance plan 
                              • This position will be required to live in an on-campus furnished apartment 
                              • Reserved on-campus parking space (decal must be purchased)
